My Ratings

In a nutshell: I built my current rating system on 5 stars. Idealistically, 10 would give viewers a better perception; but I chose 5-star (a shorter scale), to quickly convey to the viewer my personal opinion on a movie.

Forewarning: My ratings are solely based on my opinion. The value you place on my opinion is solely at your discretion.

I’m not a critic of any formal education. None of my formal education has any knowledge in films. Thus, none of my opinions will dive into the technical aspect of a film; such as, if the plot meets the basic standards, how the film was taped, the angles used and etc.

My rating stems from a frequent movie watcher, solely watching a film for entertainment purposes and then attempting to rate the film with an unbiased opinion as much as possible.

My verdict; however, is my unbiased opinion plus my two-cent.

My reviews are my two-cent and then some. It’s a detailed bias and unbiased report of opinion. Only some of my movie ratings will have my personal review.

The 5-Stars Rating System

= This movie has not been rated.

The site is a work in progress. If a movie has zero stars, it just means I haven’t personally given this movie a rating.

= Awful

One star indicates this movie is awful in my opinion.

In fact, I’m willing to go as far as to say it’s not only just my opinion; but the general public opinion’s too.

= Bad

Two stars indicate this movie is bad in my opinion.

The scaled tipped; and it’s not in the movie’s favor. There is one or more aspect of this movie that will leave you not wanting to see it again. The only audience that might find this movie enjoyable is its fans; if it has any - and they still probably will be disappointed too.

= Acceptable

Three stars indicate this movie in my opinion is acceptable.

The movie meets the general public standards in my opinion. It safe to assume you won’t feel ripped-off; and the determining factor on if you enjoy this movie will be based on your personal preferences.

For example: if I give a romantic movie 3 stars it’s generally a good movie. If you love Romance you problem enjoy it more than others do; but if you hate romance, you will just become bored watching it.

Important: Most of the movie I rate will have three stars; because most of the movies I rate are big budget films. And idealistically, for a most big film to get the green line and budget, they have to meet a certain standard to ensure their profitability.

= Good

Four stars indicates this movie is good in my opinion.

If it falls into your prefer genre than you love it. If it doesn't you probably still won't hate it.

= Excellent

Five stars indicate this movie in my opinion is excellent.

It is a must see. Despite the genre, you prefer, if this movie doesn’t falls in the category of genre you prefer - you still will enjoy this movie on some level. If you have expectations they will probably be met and then some.

My Personal Attitude

Throughout my youth I always went to the theater as my favorite past time.

It was a weekly event for me and I always look forward to it. I thought often about creating a movie website, where I could post my opinions and ratings of the movies that a watched. And I considered making a deal with the AMC Theater that I went to.

I thought I could provide them with advertisement on my site - in exchange for free access to shows. Unfortunately, it just didn't seem to be a realistic endeavor due to the amount of time it would consume if I watched all the movies currently in the theaters - verses just the ones I wanted to watch.

I projected the deal would only paid for itself. If watching free movies were the only thing I get out of the deal, I would be taking a major loss. But feeling like life is ending; you start to want to do more idealistic things.

Introduction

My name is Drake Allen Matfield. I am very ambitious and want to do great things. A few of them being, I want to start a non-profit organization, own my own business And it’s been my life dream to create a video game. Currently, I am a self taught programmer; and I wish to one day to enter into the industry officially. I have a few project ideas that I have began; but they have yet to catch any momentum.

Where I'm From

I’m born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. Despite what many other citizens might say I love my City and can’t imagine living anywhere else.

More About Me

Additionally, I have a certain degree of awareness of my own emotions; thus I tend to notice when I’m feeling a particular way and take my feelings into account when making decisions. I tend to think in both abstract ways—in terms of metaphors—and logically. Therefore, in my work and free time, I enjoy activities that get my “creative juices” flowing, but are also able to keep my mind on the primary objective of the task at hand.

My tendency to be both open-minded, yet realistic is generally quite advantageous. For instance, when there are no clear rules about how to approach a particular problem, my openness makes it easy for me to identify new ways to solve problems that might not be very obvious to people that are not as open as I am. However, because I’m also realistic-minded, I’m able to follow-rules quite easily. This combination makes it easy for me to excel in your work because I’m able to “think outside the box” while still being able to keep my eyes on “the big picture.” I’m someone who is moderate in openness, I have an appreciation for art and nature, but is also down to earth and realistic. I’m fond of music and art. But I also enjoy and appreciate things that have a clear point and some sort of practical utility.
